1. First, keep in mind that whatever colors you choose, you can create the mood you want. A color palette does not define the style of you wedding, it more gives you a platform to leap from. If your colors are green and gold, you can create a bohemian look, or a classy, sophisticated look, depending on how you use those colors and what sort of dresses, centerpieces, and venue you choose. Below we have two photos that use a similar color palette, but give a totally different vibe!

The flowers, the shade of pink, the bridesmaid’s dresses, and the bride’s dress all give this pink color palette a different vibe, just because of the way it’s styled. This is something to keep in mind while creating your color palette.
2. Think about what you like! What are your favorite colors? What are you drawn to? Look at the color that dominates your closet. What did you just recently paint that accent wall in your home? What colors make you feel the way you want to feel on your wedding day? When you look at all of your Pins on that Pinterest board you’re addicted to, what color populates it? There are no wrong answers to this- so have fun and explore what you are drawn to.
3. Once you’ve got an idea of the colors you are drawn to, specify those by thinking about how you want your guests (and you!) to feel on your wedding day. Do you want them to feel excited, carefree, and have the time of their lives? Or do you want them to feel more reflective, romantic and classy? This is how you can choose shades of color. If you’re looking for something more bold then choose a brighter shade of the colors you are drawn to. More romantic? Play it down by choosing a neutral color to go with a muted shade of color. The shades and hues that you choose will allow you to have a platform to create a mood and a feeling that will spread throughout your wedding.

4. Now that you have your colors, gather inspiration online! There are so many blogs out there with tons of color coded inspiration, as well as a great Pinterest community with people from all over the world pinning their favorite wedding inspiration! Create your own Pinterest board to keep track of photos and websites you like. (
See WINK!’s amazing Pinterest Board here!) Once your Pinterest board starts to build, step back and take a look at the things you’ve pinned and the vibe you get. Although you have your colors you still need to determine the vibe of your wedding. Looking at your photos as a whole will help you see what you are drawn to, and allow you to choose a look and vibe that you want to go for when branding your wedding.
5. You should now have your colors, shades, and vibe you want to bring to your wedding. Now keep these things in mind when you are making all wedding decisions! Choosing a photographer for your neon green wedding? They better be able to capture fun and emotion, while having an upbeat personality themselves! Looking for flowers for your ivory and dusty rose wedding? Opt for flowers that give you the same feeling as those colors. Maybe a simple bouquet filled with baby’s breath? You get the idea! With every decision you make, stay true to your vibe- and your wedding brand is sure to come to life!!
Above all, remember to have fun and enjoy the journey. It comes and goes so fast! Good luck brides!!
