It can be a daunting task. Who you want standing next to you on one of the most important days of your life….that’s a pretty B-I-G deal and the options are absolutely endless! So, where to start? How do you narrow down your list of 45 best friends? I have a few suggestions for you.

Start small. Make a list of people you absolutely cannot live without. Start with your Maid of Honor. Typically, this role is played by a sister, or by a friend who is like a sister to you. Having two is acceptable, and often the case. Your Maid of Honor will be planning the Bachelorette and the shower, so make sure to pick someone who can handle the responsibility!

Think outside the box. Ladies, is your BFF a male? Done. Find him something snazzy that meshes with the rest of the party. Don’t rule him out.
Who are you comfortable with? You want to pick people to surround you that bring out the best in you. A wise friend of mine told me once, show me your top 5 friends and I will show you who you are going to be in 5 years. Choose wisely!

Family matters. One thing about family…they will (most likely) always be there. There is really no easy way of getting around this one. Include your future sis-in-law and sister, even if you aren’t best friends. They will feel love and respected and you won’t have to deal with hurt feelings and such. It’s worth it and more often that not it is assumed that you will include them. Like all rules though, there are exceptions!

Once you have figured out who you want to include, start asking! Let the creativity flow, there are so many fun ways to do ask. Give your girls a handwritten letter, telling them why you want to include them. Include a little gift with a hairpiece for the wedding day, their favorite dessert, or a bracelet they can all wear on the special day. The goal is to make them feel special!
Cheers and good luck!
