Headpiece – Next to THE dress this is the other focal point. There are so many options these days, from veils to handbands to broaches. Pick your favorite and stick with it. Your dress will be the determiner of what should adorn your pretty little locks and there could even be a transition from ceremony to reception. Make sure to select something that is not too heavy or uncomfortable. It will be worn all night therefore it is important that it is comfortable and well secured.

Jewelry – Sometimes jewelry can be the focal point of an entire outfit but when it comes to a wedding it is simply a finishing touch. Again, the dress will dictate the style of jewelry but similar to your headpiece, it should not be anything that is too heavy or uncomfortable. It should be something that completes the bridal look but does not detract from the gown!

Shoes – These might be the most important wardrobe decision you make! They must be fabulous, of course! However they must also be comfortable! In most cases the shoes (however fabulous they may be) will be hidden so it is extremely important that they are comfortable! Walking, dancing, and standing for hours on end will happen so it is best to be prepared! It is important to do so by ensuring the shoes are comfortable or by selecting a wardrobe change for your toes after the ceremony and photos!

Undergarments – It is natural to want to wear something irresistible that will make your man’s jaw drop but again, like your shoes, keep in mind that you will be wearing your undergarments for a good 10-12 hours! Check with your dress maker on what they recommend as certain fabrics may require something specific. Often, dresses have built in support and do not require anything more! You can always put that jaw dropper on once you slip out of your dress!

Bag – my recommendation is no bag! You have bridesmaids, put them to use! Ask your girls to be responsible for your belongings since you will have many other things on you mind! However if you do want to carry a bag make sure that it can fit the essentials and that you put someone in charge of it! There is a good chance you will not be seated for more than five minutes and the last thing you want to worry about it where your bag is!

Don’t get us wrong, we love THE dress. We also know that THE dress is almost as exciting as THE man — but don’t forget the other elements that support the dress!
It can be so easy to get wrapped up in THE dress that these other elements are left till the last minute — keep in mind that they all play an equally important role!
